MMA was hired by CVS/pharmacy in 1997, to be part of a 5-year, 1500 store roll-out program that would include 34 architectural firms. MMA was assigned to develop all the new stores in New York City and the tri-state area. Most projects required development of a new store within an existing structure. Our success came from our ability to develop plans that conform to the existing conditions and adapting our solutions accordingly. To-date, we have been involved with over 400 new stores, and pride ourselves on being the only remaining architect of the original 34 firms, still working with CVS.
In 2002, CVS hired MMA to design a new National Prototype store that would be built across the US. This design established brand identity, and is adaptable to the major regions of the US. After several preliminary designs, MMA finalized the design which focused around an arched truss over the entrance, and the design is easily transformed for each region.
MMA has also been involved with 90 Retail Health Clinics (200 sq.ft. space with 1-2 examination rooms), 44 Pharmacy Expansions, 34 Store Refreshes and 70 Special Projects. In total MMA has developed more than 580 projects for CVS and this number continues to grow rapidly.
