With limited experience in the industry of Museum design, a client came to MMA to develop two design solutions for a Museum that would house world-renowned contemporary art pieces. One Museum was to be located in an Rural area and the second was to be developed in an Urban area. During our design development MMA came to realize quickly that the new facility should not just be a place to house a collection or an exhibit, but should rather be a place which showcases that collection and makes the exhibit inviting to those that have come to see it. We have also found that a museum’s design is most often a unique blend of such factors as the museum’s location/landscape, the neighborhood in which it resides, and the benefactors and contributors that provide funding. Although these projects were never constructed the client was ecstatic with the final product and MMA feels confident in our ability to meet the needs of prospective clients in this field of design while looking to the future.
