Human Resources Generalist

Massa Multimedia Architecture, PC. (MMA), is seeking a results-oriented human resources professional for our Monmouth County, New Jersey office with the ability to create and implement a comprehensive human resources experience. This is a professional position requiring discretion and the ability to work independently, and in a team environment. We are looking for the person who can shape the future of the human resources department and become integral to the culture of the firm.

  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and confidentiality. Maintains personal employee information including pay, demographic, discipline, schedule preferences, accommodation requests, family matters, in the strictest confidence. Protects company confidential information.
  • Coordinates applicant flow processes from recruitment through selection. Coordinates hiring needs with senior leadership. Places recruitment ads, reviews resumes and conducts initial interview of job applicants.
  • Create, implement and conduct on boarding and off boarding procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to monitor Performance Evaluation Program (including 90 day and annual reviews) for all employees.
  • Investigate causes of employee disputes and grievances and recommends corrective action
  • Administers benefits and compensation programs, including, but not limited to, Healthcare, 401(k), Workers Comp, STD, Unemployment, Cobra, Leave of Absences, etc. Ensure all information is disseminated, collected and processed according to deadlines.
  • Collaborate with departments on employee performance and employee team building activities in and out of the office. Recommend strategies to motivate employees and increase retention.
  • Always maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in all interactions with others in order to represent the company professionally
  • Respond to basic Human Resources related questions regarding policy, PTO, etc.
  • Keep up to date with current employment law for NJ, DC, and SC
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practice
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage time while working independently and as a team
  • Forward thinker with fresh ideas
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Positive attitude and flexible demeanor

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and/or Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5 years prior HR Generalist experience
  • Strong PC, outlook, and excel knowledge

During his tenure at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and after earning his Bachelor of Architecture, Tom has spent close to Thirty Years in planning, design, construction and contract administration for a wide range of large and small-scale projects. He joined the company in early 1997 and as one of MMA’s Principals, he has been responsible for overseeing the growth and success of the educational design studio for the last two decades. His responsibilities include contract generation, establishing budgets for hard and soft costs, design consultant coordination, and overseeing construction administration and project close-out. Tom attributes his success to his attention to detail, and his ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.
