Massa Multimedia Architecture, PC (MMA) was contracted by Congregation Shaarei Tefilla to design the interior of their new synagogue in Lakewood, NJ.
As part of MMA’s scope of work, MMA designed all the interior furnishings necessary for the synagogue, including the Ark, Cantor’s lectern, Bima stage, and all of the bookcases. MMA was also tasked with designing the layout of the seating within all of the spaces of the synagogue. MMA executed their vision from initial design in digital 3-dimensional models, to creation of photorealistic renderings for a successful marketing and fundraising campaign.

MMA also provided Construction Administration services which included selecting and specifying all furnishings, fixtures, and fittings, as well as finishes, directing the GC and subcontractors in execution of design intent.

MMA was also involved in significant value engineering and systems selection and analysis, ranging from lighting design to mechanical systems selection.

THOMAS P. MCHUGH

During his tenure at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and after earning his Bachelor of Architecture, Tom has spent close to Thirty Years in planning, design, construction and contract administration for a wide range of large and small-scale projects. He joined the company in early 1997 and as one of MMA’s Principals, he has been responsible for overseeing the growth and success of the educational design studio for the last two decades. His responsibilities include contract generation, establishing budgets for hard and soft costs, design consultant coordination, and overseeing construction administration and project close-out. Tom attributes his success to his attention to detail, and his ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.
