St. Mary's Health Care System tasked MMA with revitalizing a master planning effort that had been languishing for over a year under another architect. MMA conducted an intensive three-week charrette exploring multiple design options. Their innovative and bold design not only reinvigorated St. Mary's image but also boosted staff morale and facilitated a decisive move forward by the CEO. MMA's master plan ingeniously accommodated 120,000 new square feet without sacrificing parking space, streamlined outpatient traffic for enhanced service, and incorporated cutting-edge healing healthcare environments.
The collaboration between MMA and St. Mary's resulted in the successful completion of numerous projects as part of a $54 million Phase 1 and Phase 2 Master Facilities Plan. These projects, several of which were executed concurrently, include a 100,000 square foot Women’s/Diagnostics/NICU facility, Adult ICU modernization, ED Pediatric renovations, CT Scanner consolidation, and a new Gift Shop. Additionally, the plan encompassed Operating Room renovations, Inpatient Neuro Sciences/NCCU renovations, Central Scheduling Unit, EMS facility planning, Infusion Therapy renovations, a $2.5 Million Endoscopy unit, Chapel, $2.4 Million rooftop utility infrastructure, and a 20-bed Inpatient Acute Rehab Unit with an adjoining rehab gym and therapy area.
